Swatch has been working closely with leading international artists for over 25 years. Together, they have created the "wrist Art" combining artistic creativity of avant-garde with the advanced technology of watchmaking.
Among the watches in this collection are the new models of watches have emerged thanks to the latest developments of this blend of design, art, creativity and technology of watchmaking.
José Carlos Casado:
Spanish multimedia artist José Carlos Casado has created "OFF" , presented in a limited and numbered edition of 888 in special packaging, each accompanied by a unique watercolour signed by the artist. This edition will be sold exclusively in Venice. An additional 8,000 pieces will be sold at Swatch points of sale around the world.
José Carlos Casado works in video, photography, sculpture, drawing and performance. Born in Málaga, Spain, he earned an MFA at New York’s School of Visual Arts, specialising in computer art, and has been based in New York for the last fifteen years. His design for Swatch takes up common themes of his work: a combination of new technologies with traditional arts, and a confrontation of the real with the unreal/unconscious.
Takaya Goto was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan; Lesley Chi in Taipei, Taiwan, and both completed their post-graduate design education in the United States. GOTO DESIGN is renowned for creative, multidisciplinary collaborations with both curators and artists. Among many other fruitful collaborations, the artists worked with Massimiliano Gioni to develop the identity for The 55th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
Born in Tokyo, Hiroyuki Matsuura worked as a graphic designer before a solo exhibition in 2005 give the go-ahead to his career as an artist. Currently working in variety of formats-painting, sculpture and limited edition multiples - in Japan and abroad. His colorful characters seem to speak directly to the eye, and his work on "the world's smallest canvas' for Swatch has the same strength, dimesión larger than life itself. His characters live in a fictional world, but they seem entirely familiar, close friends and fellow travelers in space. For this collection, Hiroyuki Matsuura has designed six New Gents attractive color and design.
